Getting Personal With Your Church Newsletter

Get Up Close and Personal With Your Church Newsletter

Too many times we write our newsletters and never really touch anybody. We may be rushed since the kids are waiting for the breakfest or we have an appointment to keep so the article may not have the "human touch" a community newsletter needs to keep in touch with parishioners.

Using the right photo to set the mood helps. Pictures are not allowed or even thought of in a confessional. When was the last time you said during confession, "Let me take a quick photo".
Although a photo may be all that is needed to draw the reader in to your article and have them relate to your story. The old adage of a photo being worth a thousand words is very true.
No matter how much color you add to your article it may never get across the message as it is felt by looking at a photo.

Where can you get religious photos that are modern looking and not tied to people who look out-of-date because of hairstyles or clothes.

Try these three websites for religious photos:

Images of Jesus in the Universe, solar system, countryside, woods, etc.
Modern looking Jesus in robe portrayed as being worldly and everywhere.

This site has photos like the one above. CMSP.com concentrates on medical images but has a fair amount of religious material including doctors as priests, priests with patients, chaplain, with nurses and still lifes of crosses and bibles.

Design Pics has religious graphics for the younger set and also has inspirational images for use as backgrounds. A nice selection.

Should we continue with Church memberships? Or, do away with church membership all together.

There is no biblical basis for “membership” in a church, and it’s largely ineffective today. The alternative is to create “participants” — one church calls them “partners” — people who connect to a church by participating in some or all of the things a church does.

For instance, some will be interested in worship. Others will take a course in parenting. Others will help in the food pantry, or whatever your community ministry is. Others will want to bring their children to an after school program. Some will volunteer to help in the community garden. Some will be involved in more than one aspect of church life, others will not.

By creating “participants” churches no longer have to press people to “join.” We can then focus on building The Kingdom, rather than our own kingdoms.

WWJD Gifts Blog: Writing Effective Emails

Writing Effective Emails

Creating emails people want to open.

How do you ensure people will actually open and read your emails? The content for your email is of course, hugely important, and the structure of your email matters more than you might think. If handled correctly, your email campaigns will deliver some fine benefits. You'll get greater visibility, maintain and even improve your image, and beef up your email lists so your next campaign will have even greater success.

Be concise. Get to the point and include small sized pictures. Also, include a Unsubscribe button so people can opt out of your email list if they want.

We are all blessed to be here. Thanks for reading. WWJD Gifts.

Church Newsletters are a great way to keep in touch with members of your church. Make your newsletter something your members want to read. Write about their interests.

Put the most interesting and preferably short articles on the front. Use graphic elements like pictures, cartoons and illustrations to make articles more interesting.

Here are interesting images of Jesus you can purchase for very little money. Use the small files they offer.

Have you heard of Alamy? Visit www.alamy.com and search on Jesus or religion. They have millions of stock images for sale.

I give thanks to my God always for you because of the grace of God that has been given you in Christ Jesus, for in every way you have been enriched by him, in speech and knowledge of every kind-just as the testimony of Christ has been strengthened among you-so that you are not lacking in any spiritual gifts as you wait for the revealing of our Lord Jesus Christ. He will also strengthen you to the end, so that you may be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful; by him you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. (1Cor: 4-8)

Today Jesus In The Heavens

Ever look up into the stars on a very dark night away from city lights?

What is it about the heavens that makes one think that none of what you see could have become reality by itself. That something or someone had a hand in the creation of the stars.

Maybe.

Maybe just the creation happened and that is part of the plan.

What do you think? What would be the plan?
Will we have heaven on earth?

Do we need to worry about December 21, 2012 ?
